When you must (or want to) capture the shot, regardless of the shooting conditions and subject speed, this is the camera to do it with. Very frustrating and heavy ass camera. This gives the 1D X a two-stop advantage over the 1D Mark IV. Same with resolution. Not so obvious in this comparison is that there are actually some slight changes on the Mark IV. Let's continue to review the 1D IV's image quality/sensor performance. Along with the higher resolution 1Ds Mark III, the IV is the faster-shooting member of Canon’s one,two punch for professionals and serious amateurs (really serious given the $4,999 USD MSRP). I fit both categories. The 1Dmk4 has a very tough, well thought-out body. Currently, only Canon 1-Series bodies can autofocus with an f/8 max aperture lens (typically a lens + extender combination). The fastest-available frame rate and shortest-available shutter lag give the 1D IV a very responsive feel. Please make sure that you are posting in the form of a question. I have not encountered this problem before with any DSLR and couldn't see anything unusual in my setup this day, so I simply turned off the portrait grip functionality. When shooting at macro distances handheld and/or with a moving subject, it is very hard to maintain the precise focus required by the shallow DOF available to work in. I was trying to replace my du but this wasn't up to par, dunno if it's faulty or something. And as I write this review, the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV remains impossible to get. Choosing the tungsten white balance setting or using a custom white balance was the easy solution to the problem.
